So as I said, I spent a few days up north. My friends Elisa and her cousin Camille go up north with their family every year. They had two spots left in the house for a few days and asked me and Nick if we wanted to go up there, and we said yes.So on my birthday I packed up the car, picked up Nick and headed north. Once we got to the house in Northport we went tubing on the bay, then Nick and I went for a ride to the lighthouse, we came back rested a bit and the whole group (all 13 of us) went out for dinner for my birthday. We got back and had the lovely cake that Elisa and Camille had made for me.
Friday we spent a bit of time at the beach where I tired my body out by swimming a lot. We then went to Leeland to walk around Fishtown and other shops. We got ice cream and headed back to the house. Nick went for a ride but came back after his cleat came loose. We all rested a bit from the day and after dinner the four of us (Nick Elisa Me and Camille) went to Traverse City to walk around the Cherry Festival and get a free slurpie from 7 Eleven (because it was 7/11/08)
Drove back Saturday and took Elisa with us for company. 
In bad news, we will be seeing less of Cat at races. Her and I arent on the best terms right now. But maybe you all will be able to meet Elisa and Camille.
I am now sitting here watching The Tour climb the Col D'Aspin, its pretty split up right now.

I, on the other hand, will continue to respond with irrelevant comments that, two out of every five times, don't help the situation.

Oh, I missed the photography skills comment. Ok, as a person who knows a bit about taking pictures... remember you asked (and I am brutally honest):
The birthday cake picture is acceptable, but you should have had a follow up picture with the flash on, post candles.
The state park picture is an almost textbook example of taking a picture, the bike and sign are even almost parallel with each other. Almost perfect lighting, and very sharp focus, you let the camera do its job.
The group picture:
Is this James’s camera or are you at James’s house (you know the house with no light bulbs)? You do have a flash, right, or did the batteries go dead (turn the lights or flash on)?
You are too close or using too much zoom.
The sides of the picture are out of focus.
Tell the ladies to not use the super model smile, Zack has a proper smile, and your evil looking smile is workable as well.
Wait, how am I ridiculous? You were not in the picture, there for not an option to pick from, as I read the post.

Dougie Fresh, if you love flash so much, then why don't you marry it?
I think the cake picture needed more light too, but I don't think flash would solve the problem. First off, in a dark room, flash would cast shadows on everything... I hate shadows. Secondly, they were in a dark room on purpose, and to flood the room with light would ruin the context of the actual situation. I think more exposure(so you can identify the black shirt from the background) would be the best option, but that camera may not allow you to adjust f/stops and a you'd may need a tripod depending on how dark the room is to avoid a blurry image. It's hard if you aren't there, but flash in a v.dark room!?
The picture is the car is fine for what it is. I don't notice much problem with the photographer taking a picture that is slightly OOF (on the right side only, not the sides). The camera may be center-weighted focus only, depending, and also the kid in the black shirt is closer to the camera, which could have thrown off the auto focus. It's not so much his fault, the solution would be to move the camera further away from the subjects, but that may have required sitting on the dashboard...
Party indeed! And you know, it's not everyday that you find someone willing to regularly get up at 5am to go to races with you, hang out with your stinky bike racer friends, and pin a number onto your sweaty back.
