Is anyone else feeling like they want to toss their trainer in an incinerator? I deffinitly am. Of course, I also have a very old school piece of crap trainer that doesn't offer any quality training. Only a week and a half ago I was getting in magnificent training outside, wearing just a long sleeve jersey and a wind vest. But then the weekend comes and so does the snow. I can only get in long rides on the weekend, but due to the weather, that hasn't been possible. So my skill and fitness are not where I would like them to be, and the collegiate road season starts two weekds from yesterday.....I really don't think I am ready. I doupt I will finish the races in the first 2-3 weeks of the season. Anyways.....yeah, this was just writing down what was on my mind, no real structure or flow.

On a lighter note.....I had alot of fun Thursday and Friday. I attended the Michigan ACSM Conference. I was the only freshman there, yeah I know.....over achiever. But it was alot of fun. ACSM stands for the American College of Sports Medicine. It is the governing body of my feild of study, exercise science. It was held in Gaylord Michigan at Treetops Ski/Golf Resort. I drove up with some seniors in the program Thursday morning. We stayed the night there and drove back Friday afternoon. It was pretty much a bunch of lectures about recent research that had been conducted, and ways to improve our skills (that I do not have yet) I have never felt like I belonged, but incredibly out of place at the same time. Everyone there was interested in the same things I was, but I didn't understand anything that was said. haha. It was a great networking experience though, meeting other majors from MSU, CMU, Adrian, and somewhere else, I don't remember. Yup thats pretty much it.

The random pictures are just a look into my daily life. The first one is my at home playing with my boston terrier, Hobbles. Yes she is hanging a few inches off the ground by the dog toy....shes a strong puppy.

The second picture is my riding my bike around the dorm hall. This ended with some tire marks on the carpet and my RA not extreamly pleased.

Finaly, the last picture is me with my freinds Brandon and Fez up in Gaylord. This was a giant ice block created by constantly running water for several days. (it was running while we were there, we could hear it)

unless you're racing collegiate A, most people wont be in awesome form either. if you are racing A's however, the first couple weekends will be interesting.

No, I love my new CycleOps Fluid 2 trainer. Less noise then the Mag+ and smoother. Ride your trainer longer; I did 1:45 which was 30 miles on Saturday :P (I am going to drop you like a bad habit in the B races). He-he, you are going to get DROPPED at that first collegiate race :P. Yeah, Zach never has any rhythm or flow (Disco is gone Zach, get over it!). Do you want to drop out of bike racing now? Or do you want some cheese with that wine?

Did the seniors make you drive, and get their coffee and tea?

That looks like dog abuse. I hope they call campus safety on you, riding your bike in the halls like that. Fez, what kind of name is Fez... ok bye...

Doug said...

...and I have a better looking hat then you do.

Who is the ghost face over the fireplace? Looks like there is blood on the carpet under the dog and near your right foot. That is some nice paneling, and the carpet is ok. You do need to wash the dog. And wash that shirt after you wash the dog. And at least at home you push all the junk to one side, and not spread it around more evenly like in your dorm.

I've been riding outside it's nice. We are averaging in the high 40's hehehe

I can't wait for the STS. I'm looking for the win in the "C" race.

Zachary Maino said...

Are you going to be doing the Bs for the fun of it too?

Doug said...

JD will never win the C race at the STS, it will be bridesmaid for JD for all the spring races.

Doug said...

Oh, you just keep saying that Zack, I seem to be turning into a TT person, I'll just jump off the front with four to go and you will never see me. As long as there is no sprint, I am good. And you ride like an old wash woman anyways.

Zachary Maino said...

Jees Doug. Whats with all the mean comments lately? You need to lighten up and be a good sport.

James Anderson said...

Doug, what does "the bridesmaid" mean. Keep in mind that I am only in EIGHTH grade, so I don't get all of your vocabulary.
And maybe I will do the Bs, but only for one or two races.

Doug said...

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Means a woman who is always in a wedding, but never gets married. In the racing case, it would mean you would always get second or say top five but just never win a race. You are there, just not THERE.

Doug said...

Oh, I hit to close to home? Does your coach yell 'you ride like an old wash women'. Is there a tier running down your cheek? Suck it up buttercup.

Your right, I am just plain mean. :D

So, do you want to drop out now :)??

Zachary Maino said...

No, im fine with continuing to race. I have not to worry about you Doug, you wont even cat up to the 3s like the rest of us

Doug said...

I just don't want to make you look bad.

Doug said...

But, when we race in the Bs, look out. You going to get dropped, I can see it now.

James Anderson said...

Jeez guys, if we're all gonna insult each other and lie, I might as well say WATCH OUT FOR ME AT THE STS "A" RACE!!!

James Anderson said...

And SLC racers are encouraged to race the "A" race.

James Anderson said...

So Doug, if I'm the bridesmaid, are you the priest???

Doug said...

Oh no, I am not touching the A race with a 10 foot pole. That is a little out of my league.

Doug said...

I am not a priest, but there is a priest type person who came to crit practice later in the season last year. Him and his brother, I forget their names.

Someone will post them.

Doug said...

I have never told a falsehood in my life.

Now, insult each other lets go to town. :).

I do not think Zach can handle the heat :). He will crack under the pressure, so I am starting to turn up the heat now :). That way he will not even show up to the spring races, but go hide under his bed until it is over :). *

*this is all in pulling Zach's leg

This is fun, we got 22 posts now, it is a party in Zach's blog.

Dang popular, who has 22 (now 23) comments?

On my side of town the weather has been hovering around 35-40. High forties is slightly generous, although it is almost 60 today. (1-3in by tomorrow morning and high in the twenties for V-day)

My trainer is a huge POS, and I've maybe only ridden it 12-15 times since December, so you're not alone. Even with Ice, snow, or night coming so early I will ride my road bike outside unless it is under 28F. After 28F the wind chill isn't very fun for more than a half hour.

I didnt know how much you all missed me posting, it is a party in here!

BikeBoy just told me there was a kegger goin on in Zach's blog...thought I'd pop in. Got any bourbon and sweet vermouth for Manhattans?

Darrell Anderson said...

Oh, btw, where's that fiendish Pothole anyway? We drove through Runway Plaza just the other day and guess what...the pothole is growing and I swear I saw it move and utter the name "Doug".

Darrell Anderson said...

Doug, you may just disappear never to be heard from again on any given lap at the STS! Better get some safety line rigged up because falling into this thing could be like falling into a parallel dimension.

Bikeboy, Doug and all you other C-race sandbaggers, I want to announce right here and now that I am going to dominate the C's at Runway! I'm coming for all you guys!! Doug, I shouldn't threaten you because you will be claimed by the pothole but the rest had better watch it! I'm going to rip your skinny legs off and throw them in the pothole with Doug.

Zachary Maino said...

Darrell....your my hero lol.
This here is comment number 38. I wonder if we can make it to 50

dmo said...

Yeesh. I leave town for a few weeks and look at all the trouble you guys get into. Things are going well here in California. This morning I rode up and down a real mountain - think I was cursing most of the way up and fearing for my life most of the way down. Next Saturday the Tour of CA passes through town and I'll try to get lots of photos. Any requests? Oh, and I think Paul Alman might get a little suspicious if we line up a whole squad at the STS C race.

dmo said...

Oh, and I was thinking that the STS races could be all that much more exciting if we filled the pothole with sharks. Preferably sharks with laser beams for eyes.

Doug said...

Well, maybe someone should call the city on the hole and get it filled?!?!?!? Did anyone ever think of that?

Doug said...

...and I never ran INTO that hole, Ace scared me while riding in line.

Doug said...

and I never said I would race in the Cs. That is just sandbagging.

Doug said...

Well Mr. Maino, you can count too. All that fancy education is paying off... :)

One day you will be a real whiz-bang in whatever field you are going into.

Doug said...

This makes it a nice 45...

James Anderson said...

Not any more!

Darrell Anderson said...

BTW Dan, I don't think averaging 40 watts is anything to brag about...(Doug told me to say that...he is pure evil...belongs in a massive pothole at Runway Plaza!)

Daniel Ritter said...

good think i was talking about temperature.

Also, this thread must die, I had 11 emails when I woke up, and was excited.... but they were all from here

Doug said...

Oh, and I washed the car, and cleaned the inside.
